On January 25, I did a post, on my photography blog, about a free online photo editor called Pho.to. I check my Google Adsense earnings almost every day and on January 30, I saw a huge increase in my earnings. It was quite strange but I was happy and excited at the same. I wanted what I did right so I can do it again.

I analysed the number of visitors in my Google Adsense report and realized that my photography blog got 3309 visitors in one day with 18 clicks on the Adsense! Of course these clicks transferred to earnings for me. The post about the online editor had 207 visitors. This is my first post with the highest number of visitors. Oddly though there were no comments.

I Googled pho.to a few minutes ago and my post is the first page. It is my suspicion that my post about this online editor may be responsible for the increase in my visitors on that day.

SBI taught its members that is important for the search engines that each website has a site map. To me it is important for other reasons as well. One is my visitors can quickly review the contents of your website and select a page of interest of their choice.

What Is A Sitemap

A site map is a visual or textually organized model of a Web site's content that allows the users to navigate through the site to find the information they are looking for, just as a traditional geographical map helps people find places they are looking for in the real world.

A site map is a kind of interactive table of contents, in which each listed item links directly to its counterpart sections of the Web site. Site maps perform the same service that the layout maps in large shopping malls perform: without them, it is possible to explore a complex site by trial and error, but if you want to be sure to find what you're looking for, the most efficient way to do that is to consult a model of the resources available.

If a Web site is small and uncomplicated, a site map may be unnecessary, just as a layout map may not be required for shoppers to find their way through small shopping malls.

For me, it helps me to find pages that I may have forgotten where I may have inserted them. For example, I am working on my photography site Dis Photographer Sees Art, and I know that I created certain pages but I could not remember where I placed them.

Yes I can go to SBI back office and find a list of all my pages but it would not tell me where I placed the pages. You see another one of our lessons is that we create our pages at various levels. We can have tier 1, tier 2 and maybe tier 3 pages. Many times the tier 1 pages are listed in the navigation bar but the tier 2 and 3 pages may not.

This is the site map for my photography site and this page in particular, I could not remember where I place the link to it. I realized that it is important to keep the site map updated as regular as possible. So in future I can just refer to this page whenever I forget where I placed a link to a certain page.

Infolinks Tab Cloud

As I am building my two new websites, I added their web site address to my Infolinks back office. I got my code and inserted them on the sites. As I reviewed one of the pages after inserted the code, I was surprised to see a Tag Cloud at the bottom of the pages. I really don't remember setting this up. I really like this design. So in addition to having selective words being highlghted, there is a Tab Cloud at the bottom of my pages.

The other great thing about Infolinks Tag Cloud, is that you can choose a colour scheme that is closest to the colour scheme of your website. There are presently four options to choose from: Daylight, Seashore, Evening and Crystal. Its really cool, I had fun setting this up.

My Two New SBI Websites

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

In my last post, I wrote about my desire to take up SBI's Christmas promotion - BUY ONE AND GET ONE FREE! Well I did it, I purchased one website and got another one free! I initially has some problems making the purchase - I had to make a few calls to SBI's office. The SBI representatives were very helpful. The problem was basically with my credit card company.

One website is about photography and the other one is about British Virgin Islands Stamps. So I am very busy these days. I am working on both sites at the same time.

One thing I need to mention though is, I thought that the free site was for all times but it is for the first year. Thinking about it - it makes sense. If all these sites were free, the company would go bankrupt or they would have to increase their prices to make up for the loss.

As I am doing research for my photography website, I am learning alot and am enjoying this project. The site is growing very quickly. The reason I started this photography website, is because my photo gallery is not getting enough traffic. So I have inserted links to this gallery in this new photography website - Dis Photographer Sees Art.

I was discussing the name of this website with my kids and my son was telling me that I should name the site Dis Photographer Creates Art. I thought it was a bit complicated. After getting my daughter's opinion, I decided that I am happy with my final choice.

The other site about BVI Stamps, I am getting assistance for a fellow resident of the BVI - Giorgio Migliavacca. He is so generous in assisting me in this project - Virgin Islands Stamps.

My finances are a bit low presently and I was going for the monthly which I normally pay for my other two sites. Adsense Cheque received!

I received my Google AdSense payment a few days ago! My excited was marted by the fact that I lost some of my files because of a damaged WD (Western Digital) Passport external hard drive. The hard drive fell on the ground and apparently this damaged it. So when I called the technician, I was told that my files could not be retrieved. See my full post HERE.

But the good thing is I had backup my files on October 5 (on my computer) so I was able to retrieve most of my files. I am thinking of getting a new external hard drive (different model) with the funds from my Google AdSense cheque!!!

Google Adsense Payment Update

I have not received my Google Adsense payment as yet - maybe I am too excited. I don't think the mailing system here in the BVI is very reliable. A few times I posted a letter to my mother in Trinidad and she never received it. Maybe the unreliable mailing system is in Trinidad?

Anyway, I logged in to my Google Adsense back office account and I was presently surprised with the fact that I can receive my payment via Western Union!!! This is great news!

Apparently when my payment is due and it is within the threshold amount, my payment will be sent to Western Union within a few days. Therefore I would not have to be checking my mail box every day or wait so long to get my cheque. PLUS I would not have to go to the bank and deposit the cheque. I also suspect that the bank would have to 'hold' the cheque for a few days.

Infolinks Earnings

Now it is time to report on my Infolinks Earnings.
What is Infolinks? Infolinks is an In Text advertising service, they take my text and create links within it. If you hover with your mouse over these double underlined links, you will see a small dialog box containing advertisement related to the text marked.

Eash time my visitors click on these advertisments, I get paid. So it is important to have as much content on your site as possible - that is if you want to make money from the internet and who doesn't???

Infolinks system is easy to install, after you have registered with them, you will be given a code to install on your website/blog. After you have installed the code on your website/blog, just sit back and watch the money roll in (but I must be clear here, you must have traffic to your website/blog and your visitors must click on the Infolinks advertisements). I have installed the Infolinks on both my SBI websites - WhaToCook and 70Pounds.

My earnings are comings along nicely, I am now earning each day and between last and this month (so far) my average earnings is $6.00. I have reached the payment threshold (which is $50.00) at the end of October 2011 and my first payment should be issued December 15, 2011.

How am I going to receive my payments? I chose to have my payments transferred to my Payoneer debit Master card account. Infolinks recommended it and I applied for my card. My Payoneer Debit MasterCard has been in safe keeping for a while, soon I will be using it. When my payment is transferred to this master card account, I will be able to go to any ATM machine (with a MasterCard logo) and withdraw my funds! Isn't that easy or what!!!

300x250 Adsense Unit

I read about another good AdSense unit - 300x250. Apparently the conversion rate is very good and it recommended that the text and image unit be selected. I have seen alot of SBI site owners using this unit on the top left side of their site pages. And to be honest I did not like the presentation. So I decided not to use it.

But since I am looking of ways to increase my AdSense earnings, their is no harm in installing this unit on some of my pages and creating a channel to monitor its performance. I started inserting these ads yesterday and created a custom targetable channel so I can monitor its performance and target the premium ads.

One thing that I have noticed though, the ads are not relevant to my site. I see more relevance with the 160x90 block text ad.

My First AdSense Earnings

Okay it is time to report on my AdSense earnings. As of October, I reached my 100.00 mark! So my cheque should have been mailed to me on October 24, 2011. I am so excited I check my mail box every day! I also check my AdSense account to see my daily earnings. I enjoy doing this. I remember being excited one day when my earnings for the day was about 0.98 cents! You would think that it was a lot of money but it was encouragement enough to continue what I am doing – add more content to my websites. Another day I earned 0.83 and another 0.77.

Yesterday I went searching on YouTube to find out if there is a way to increase my earnings with AdSense and I came upon this video made by Lisa. Lisa is the owner of 2createAwebsite. In the video she explained about Placement Ads (Premium Ads) and Contexual Ads, this is the first time I heard about them and implemented her recommendation immediately after watching her video. I will also create a post when I receive my first Adsense cheque! Of course there will be a photo to support it!!!

SBI Newsletter About Panda

As an SBI member, I receive a newletter every week. This week's newsletter is about Panda. Apparently Google made some changes to its search engines and the new algorithm is called Panda. With the injection of this new Panda, a lot of SBI members reported that they noticed a reduction in their website traffic, which for some resulted in reduction in revenue.

So SBI team of programmers developed a procedure that we would not loose any traffic if or when Google decides to revise their algorithm again! Now tell which other company does something like this? Did they increase my fees? No, No, No!!!

In addition they advised me to check that my sitemap is listed with Google. Sometimes it gets dropped for what ever reason. So I followed their instructions and I was able to add my sitemap and verify that I am the owner of my two websites. Apparently this is another step that I missed.

I had to go into my Google account and click on Webmaster Tools and there are loads of information about my websites in there! I am able to see accurately which sites have links to my site and exactly on which page. That is what you call free back links. Some people used my articles with a link to my site (which is great). I have to spend another day just going through this area.

Free Ebook With Trini Recipes

My initial desire was to allow my visitors to (to my trini recipes website) have the opportunity to be able to print out the recipes from my website. After doing some investigation, I realized that it would be quite a task to set up a print module on each page. I could also create each page as a Word document and then save them as a PDF file (universal file format) but would be like creating a whole new website.

So I decided to go the e-book way. I got an image created for the book cover and I created one file with most of the recipes. As I update this file regularly, I will then upload this revised file.

I offer this ebook free to my visitors. This ebook is very simple and do not include the images or my little personal stories and experiences. Just the recipes.

I recently checked (via my SBI back office) to see if anyone was downloading the ebook and I was greatly surprised to know that about seven people downloaded the book! I thought that I would have received some sort of notification each time the file was downloaded. Maybe there was a step that I missed. So now my next project is to add more recipes to the file. I only have about 30 pages as of today.

New Interest In Amazon

I am in love again!!! My interest in Amazon has re-ignited! I recently visited a fellow SBIer web site which was listed on my list of SBI sites and I like the way she had one of images displayed on her site. She was selling a product and it was powered by Amazon! Now she only had the image without the amazon logo so I did not that the product was being sold from Amazon until I clicked on the image.

So I followed her pattern and started the doing the same on my site. I actually having alot of fun and choosing items specific for the topic of my pages.

Prior to this is was a bit disappointed with Amazon - not making any money, I started deleting some of the banners on my site but thanks to this new idea, I am back on the wagon again. I feel very excited about it!

I have purchased a few things (one item as delicate as a camera lens) from Amazon and I am very impressed with their service. There was even a time when I purchased the incorrect item and had to return it. I received my refund without any problem.

Selling items from Amazon is easy, another form of passive income, all you have to do is the initial set up on your website and that's it. Your guest click on your text link or image link and amazon does the rest. I will get a commission from a sale when a visitor to my site clicks on one of amazon images and buys. Another great thing is I don't have to worry about stocking any inventory!!!

Traffic Statistics Accurate

Wow, I just finished publishing a post about my trip to a beach Trinidad on my photography blog, that was maybe about 10 minutes ago. Right after I checked the Traffic Statistics of my Trini cooking website. I saw that someone had already visited the post about my trip to Trinidad and they subsequently clicked only link to my cooking site!!!

This proves that SBI Traffic Statistics are indeed helpful AND accurate!

Online Html Editor

When I first started using SBI, I used their block builder system to build my websites. As I developed my site, I wanted a more unique designed so I hired someone to design a template for me. In order for me to to apply this new template to my website, I had to upload my pages. I had to learn CCS and some html.

I started using a html editor named Archnophilia (I cannot pronounce this word). It is quite easy to use and I was able to download a free copy onto my desktop. I have recently started using another html editor called Komposer - this one is more user friendly.

I purchased an portable external hard drive and I installed my html editor on it. Therefore as long as I have my external hard drive with me, I can update my pages and upload to SBI servers. If not, there are many free online html editors available where I can update my pages.

My List of SBI Sites

I have noticed that on a few occasions, I found myself wanting to research other websites that were created and hosted by Site Build It, to monitor their activities and maybe get a few ideas for my websites.

SBI has a directory of SBI sites but these sites are the ones that have very high Alexa ranking. There are many other SBI websites that do not fall into this category. Thus the reason I created my own List Of SBI Sites.

Having this allowed me to assist another SBI site owner who had a coding error on one her pages. I was able to promptly contact her and inform her about the error. She was most thankful.

I have gotten a few request from SBI site owners to have their site listed on my page. Maybe there is some potential for me to monitize from this venture. Still thinking about it.

First Exposure Cookie

I am SBI affiliate and when I first signed up the commission was paid to the affiliate who made the final sale. Now when a prospective buyer sees an SBI advertisement, he/she will click on a link and read about SBI and its services. There is so much to read and learn - the information is free so it will take the prospective buyer some time to decide if they want to buy SBI.

When the prospective buy clicks on the SBI ad the first time, there is a exposure cookie that lets SBI know which affiliate ad the prospective buyer clicked on. When the prospective buyer decides to buy, he/she may not remember where they first saw the ad and would most likely sign up with another affiliate. Thus the affiliate, whose ad the prospective buyer first clicked on, would not get the commission on the sale.

Great news! It has been released this week that the programming has been changed. The affiliate, who gets the First Exposure Cookie, gets the commission regardless of who closes the deal! The sale has to be made within nine months.

I and many other SBI affiliates are really excited about this recent change. I thought that maybe I did not insert my banner codes correctly. Even though I have made two sales, I think it should have been more. I have SBI banners all through my sites.

Sometimes I post comments to other peoples site and on several occasion I find myself wanting to find these pages.

One day I found this page in my back office. It lists all the pages that are linked to my site - it is quite cool actually. It lists the actual page and its URL so I can easily refer to the pages. Before I found this page, I was going to create a list in Microsoft Word or something and I am glad that I did not because SBI has done if for me. I just have to remember were to find the page. It is under the Link Exchange heading and Status and Tool subheadings. I even found an article that I had posted some time ago and had totally forgotten about it.

Before and After

It has been a while that I wanted to create a post about the look and feel of my first website. So here it is, the before and after looks of the site. It has really come a long way. As a matter fact I want to celebrate in advance that this site will be recording 10,000 page views this month. The page views has already 9k as of today and by the trend for the month thus far, I can forecast that the total for the month would be 10k and more!!!

I just had a look at the Traffic Statistics of my new site 70pounds.com and was greatly surprised at the amount of unique visitors for the day - 494! My first thought was - WOW - but it that right? But you know what I promptly changed my tone to THANK YOU!!! At least I am doing something right!!!!!

Yesterday I read a post on Facebook from Sitesell that there is a website that is stealing our pictures and the post advised we that we should all check out the site and see if our pictures were indeed being used illegally. Alot of members responded positively that their photos were stolen.

We each then sent an email to the company that hosted the sites, informing them that if they don't remove our pictures, we would be taking legal action. Within 24 hours the site was blocked!!! My daughter took this video at home in Trinidad. She is so funny, she thought that the sounds were gunshots and was a little scared until she realized that it was fireworks. I told her that my husband and I was having the same discussion. A friend of his in Tortola BVI, had the same problem. He thought that the sounds were gunshots and found it hard to believe when my husband told him that it was fireworks!!!

I had a lot of problems uploading this video, I eventually had to ask my daughter to help me. Thanks honey!!

Can you believe this? My son was the one who introduced me to Site Build It. But he decided to used another platform to develop his website. I kept telling him that he should use Site Build It but I guess he felt that the type of site that he wanted to create could not be done with Site Build It.

Now his computer has 'crashed' and I think he has lost his files. He told me that the only way that he can retrieve the data is going online and copy the information from his website.

He had to install. the software onto his computer, to create his pages, now the software and data is lost. I asked him if it is possible for him to install the software on his external hard drive but he said that it would not work that way.

I know that with Site Build It I would not have that problem. Everything is online. The only thing is that now that I am uploading my pages, I have an editor installed on my computer but the one that I am using is free and I can always get access to it. What I will have to do next is to save my pages on an external hard drive for safety.

Easy Fix

On a few occasions my son kept telling me that the banner on the homepage of my website was not working. I did not pay much attention to him because it was working fine from computer. Eventually one day I had to really investigate what he was telling me and I asked my daughter if she was having the same problem from her computer and she confirmed it.

So what I did next was to post a comment on Site Build It Facebook account and asked members is they were seeing the banner on my home page and a few of them responded negatively. One member in particular, actually gave me a solution to my problem. It was something quite simple actually. I had blocked out some code making the information look like notes instead of code. So it was an easy fix.
Ironically this member has as website about photography – one of my passions. I am very grateful for his help. I was able to fix the problem and move on. Here is his website.

My New Friends

Having Site Build on Facebook is really convenient. I have recently become acquainted with two great ladies who are fello SBI members. One lady in particular was very helpful in assisting me with a query on how to create a link to a particular part of a web page. Oh my, I am overjoyed this afternoon, I just received an email from SBI's Accounting Department, informing me that I made a sale - my FIRST SALE!! I am an SBI affiliate so each time I sell an SBI package, I make a commission!!! I am going and do a happy dance!!!!!

A fellow SBI asked me if I would be paid $75.00 for the sale but it all depends on the payment option that the purchaser chooses. For example in my case, my client chose the monthly payment option which is approximately $29.99 so my commission would be 25% of that. If they had choosen to make the full payment of $299.00, I would have gotten the $75.00 commission which is 25% of $299.00. For the past few weeks I have been busy working on my first SBI site. It has been my desire to have a three column site, for some time now. I asked a friend of mine if he would assist me in this venture and he was charging me about $1,800.00 to do the job! In addition he told me that I would have to change from SBI and I was definitely not prepared to do that. I really feel safe with SBI.

For the length of time I have been with SBI, they have never disappointed me yet. As a matter of fact they are always surprising me.

So my task right now is to transfer each page to this new template. My site is looking professional and my pictures are more formatted and well laid out.

Amazing! I just finish using another feature that SBI provides. Again I saw the button to click on but I never checked it out until today. You see for my cooking website, I upload alot of pictures but my pictures have to be no larger than 100km. My routine is to use an external online photo resizer to do this task for me. Not realizing that SBI provides this service. WOW!!!! I was able to resize my photo, it was quite simple and I could also crop it too, if I wanted.

Yesterday I was reviewing my Traffic Statistics on my new site and I noticed that it was referred by another site that has the same kind of content as mine. I sent the auther am email requesting that we exchanged links and I got no response. So I was greatly surprised to see a link to her site, in my statisitcs as being a referrer. I then visited her site and indeed she did have my site listed on her blog. I was so happy! Right away I included a link to her blog on my site.

I knew about this feature but this is the first time I was really able to appreciate its usefullness.

Again, SBI has all the sytems in place to ensure that I suceed with my website. This morning I received an email informing me that two of my links on my new website were broken (when you click on the link, you receive a message stating that the url is unknown or it does not direct you to the page it is supposed to). That information is so important because if someone clicks on the link and it does not work, they may think that the webmaster does not know what they are doing or does not have any interesting in the site. So the visitor may leave. Basically a broken link is a no-no by search engines and spiders!

Yesterday I received an email from SBI informing me that I have reached the 30 pages milestone, for my new website. And that now is a good time to start thinking about implementing monetizing strategies.

I am so excited to report that I have make another plunge! I have created another SBI website! One day I was going through my list of key words for my cooking site and I noticed that was potential for a particular word. It so happens that I have recently started a journey of changing my eating style. So I said to myself that this is the time to started another website. But I first collected as much data on the topic as I could to see if is really feasible for me.

Yesterday I signed up for a new SBI site. I finally made the decision to make another dive. I know one day I will reap the financial benifits. Anyway, I had a little difficulty in finding my way to starting developing the site after I made my first payment. So I sent an email to the customer service department. And I can honestly tell you that within seconds I received a response. Within 15 minutes I had all the answers to my questions. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Once again SBI has proven that it is a one stop web site solution program. Yesterday I came up with some keywords that are in demand (with low supply) for a new website. I was looking for something (can't remember what) and saw that these keywords were in demand but adequate supply was not there.

What SBI teaches you is before building your site, you should Brainstorm your keywords. They provide a feature where you just insert your keyword and a list of associated words are provided. Each word will be listed with how many times that word was searched and the number of sites that are available with that key word. If the number of times the word is searched is significantly more than the number of sites that are available, then the potential to develop a sucessful website, with that keyword, is great!

So last night I spent quite some time doing research on this particular word that has alot of potential. So I will be putting things into place to build a new web site. I will keep you posted.

I did a post in the early part of January 2010 and I estimated that my page views for that month would be 6,000. I thought that I was a bit ambitious but I made it! Here is the proof. The image is not so clear but on the 30th January 2010 my page views was 6039 and at the end of the month it was 6178!!! Awesome!

Again I want to reinforce that SBI provides all my website needs. My son has a site on quotes and he asked me to create a banner ad for my site so he can include it on his site. So I went about surfing the net, looking for a site that provides this service. The bottom line is that I did not find anything that really attracted my attention.

One day I was doing some ground work on my site and I discovered an article that was posted by another SBI owner. The article included the code for a banner and step by step instructions! Now I saw this article some time aback and totally forgot about it. SBI provides soooo much information that I cannot remember all of it. So I used the code, inserted my own picture and walla!!!!. I have my banner. It is simple and I am pleased with it.

My Favorite Video

This is my favorite video. I was watching it again today and what the author was saying really 'hit' me. You see a friend of mind told me that he wanted me to build a website for him. He has a dvd movie rental store and he complained that his customers were only asking him the same questions over and over. So he wants to refer them to the website for all answers to their questions.

I was thinking of getting a free site as just a test. But after watching this video, I realized that my friend is really my first customer to build a website. It is not really my intention to build websites for other people but who knows I might really like doing it! I will have to prepare a proposal and present it to him and then with his authorization, I will build a website for him.

I just wanted to share this with you. In my Traffic Statistics, in my back office, in addition to seeing how many page views I am getting in total and by each page, I can also see the percentage of views by countries. They also present the data in a pie chart format. To me, this is soo cool. It makes a greater impact on which coutries view my site the most.

No software to install.

My computer crashed again last night!!! The error message that I was getting was that the Operating system could not be found. It was very agrivating because about two months ago it crashed too and I lost alot of pictures that I use for my photography blog.

I just had to remind my son that with SBI, there is no software to install. He has a website called Fancy Quotes and he had to install a software. I have to remind him to back up his files otherwise if what happened to me, happens to him, he will be soooo upset.

1st day of the year

I am so excited about my page views on the first day of the year,that I had to share it with my viewers. As you can see from the image below, my Traffic Stafistics for the first day of January 2010 is 412!!! Not to be truthful, that trend had not continued thus far but it is looking pretty good. As of 11th January 2010, my total page views is at 2237. With this trend, I can estimate that my total page views for the month of January 2010 will be 6000!!! I will let you know how that goes.

Now let me be absolutely clear, I am not doing any marketing really, not intentionally only for an occasional mention of my site in my blogs and a signature line in my email account. SBI does it all for me so all I focus on is getting content for my site.

I am going to discuss a little about my experience with Favicons. You maybe wondering is a Favicon. A favicon is a custom icon associated with a webpage or website that appears next to the http address in the URL window of a browser. Favicon combines the words "favorites" and "icon."

I noticed that a lot of blogs have these favicons and I decided to have one installed on my blogs. Well one blog gave me the step by step instructions. I followed the instructions but I was not getting it right. Then one day I realized that it may have been my browser that needed updating because I saw my favincons on another computer. After all that effort I found yet another blog that gave me easier instructions.

Now of course I had to see if I can do this with my SBI site and guess what there a button labelled FAV IT and I did not know what it was for until that day. And could you believe it was the easiest thing to do. All I had to do was to select my image from my hard drive, upload it and I was able to see my favicon right way. I was amazed at how easy it was!!!

Blog vs Website

I inserted this video just to emphasis the difference betwen a blog and a website and which is best for you.

I will tell you about my personal experience. I have a website and four blogs and I am have a blast with all of them. I do this part time so of course it is time consuming. This month, my phone was out of service so I was not able to access the internet for the Christmas week. I only prepared about three web pages for the month of December 2009. Every month, I estimate how many total page views I would get and my goal for this month was 3,500. Well when I checked my Traffic Statistics about the 28th of this month it was 3800!!! I was absolutely surprised!

Now with my blog I am obligated to keep my posts current. Personally if I visit a blog and there are no recent posts, I lose interest and think that the author has lost interest in blogging.

Lets talk about earning an extra income with a website. I will use myself as an example. I do not have a product to sell nor do I have any services to offer but I do know have some knowledge about cooking, Cooking Trinidad and Tobago style, to be precise, so that is basically what my site is about. Developing a website on information on a topic that you are knowledgable about is called Infopublishing.

Now the earning an extra comes in when you insert Google Ads codes on your site and your visitors click on these links. Google then pays me for every click that I get. The pay per click is small that is why traffic is so important. The more traffic I get, the more clicks I will get thus the more pay I would get from Google.

Now the other important part of this whole cycle is to write on a topic that you are passionate about thus you will always have the drive to write about that topic.

Broken Link

Today I want to discuss a feature that really blew me away. One day I received an email from the owner of the SBI - Ken Envoy. It stated that one of my pages had a broken link. The email listed the page that had the broken link and the actual link that was not working. Now I have been with this company for a year and this is the first time I received one of these emails. I did not even know that they provided this service.

Having good links on your website cannot be emphasised enough. You can lose creditabiltty if your visitors click on one of your links and it does not work. SBI also helps me with that. So after I read the email, I went to my back office, found the exact page with the exact broken link and repaired it. I am so glad that this feature is part of the package.

But I must mentioned that when I build a page and I add a link to another one of my pages or another website, there is an option for me to test to see if the link is working. Therefore before I actually complete one of my pages, I know that my links are working. But you know things happen.

I am really excited to write this post about the blog feature of my website. You see SBI develop a feature where you can easily have a blog for website with out any effort. This is how my experience went. I developed the blog by filling out a simple form (mind you I did not know what I was doing and the effect of this feature) and that was it.

One day I was checking my Traffic Statistics and I realized that a particular page was getting the most views. I can see how many views each page is getting. Awesome!!! Anyway, the name of the page was strange to me so of course I checked it out only to realize that it was my blog!!! You could just imagine my amazement. I could not believe it!!! So I went back into the setup page and made every thing was right, like the description for the blog, appropriate title, I even added an introduction paragraph and an Adsense block.

Everytime I create a new page or edit an existing page, it is added to the blog via the RSS feed. I can switch off this feature per page if I wish. To be honest with you, I don't really understand this RSS feed thing but it works. One of my follwers sent me a few emails in respect to my recent posts and I was wondering how she was able to keep up with me. Now I know how!

Do I need a website?

You are proberably deciding if you need a website. Well ask youself, would you like earn an additional income? Most people would answer 'Yes' without batting an eyelid! Check out my featured video.

When I first started, I knew I wanted a website but did not have a product to promote or was not really into any affiliate program and I did not really have anything thing to write about, or so I thought. Well SBI teaches you that there must be something each individual is passationate about and you can write about that. This type of website is called Infopublishing. The reason you write something you are passionabe about is that you will always have content for your site other wise you would eventually run out of things to write about.

With the assistance of my son, I chose to write about my recipes general ones and ones from Trinidad and Tobago, where I was born. I really enjoy doing it and I am learning alot as I progress. Website Traffic

Today I am going to talk about Traffic. It seems appropriate as in my last post, I mentioned about how important traffic is to the success of your site. The image above is my personal traffic statistics in my back office with SBI. I could view this information any time I want. At any time, I can find out how many views I am getting on each page and which sites I am getting referral from. Awesome! When I first started developing my site, my page views were about 200 (average) per month.

After the first month of creating pages, I paused for a few months but eventhough my traffic was small, I was still getting traffic. One day, my son told me that he found my website by Googling it. At that point I did not really understand the potential of SBI and the services they offer. Someone posted an answer to a Yahoo Answer question and included a link to one of my pages.

Well that gave me the motivation to apply myself and create more pages on a consistant basis. As you can see each month my traffic is growing. Every month I play a little game with myself and estimate how much page views I would get and so far my estimate is almost met.

What is SBI?

What is SBI? SBI is a company called Site Build It. This company offers all the services associated with having a sucessful web site. For some time now I have tried to create a website using the free services available online, after getting my site to look pretty enough, I realized that I had a major problem on my hands, NO TRAFFIC.!! This is the crucial key to a sucessful website. So so all my attemps were fruitless until in 2008, my son introduced me to a company call SBI.

Well I watched their free introduction video and I was hooked. My motto is SBI every Other never!
